Routines vs Right Now

Present Simple & Continuous

Goal: Use the Present Simple for habits and the Present Continuous for what is happening now.

Complete the verb in each sentence.

I usually work at 9 a.m.
Right now I a team meeting.
She emails every morning.

Speak it aloud

Tell your screen: one thing you do every day at work, and one thing you are doing today.

The Meeting That Went Wrong

Past Simple & Continuous

Goal: Use the Past Simple for finished actions and the Past Continuous for an action in progress.

Complete the verb in each sentence.

Yesterday I the bus.
At 8 a.m. I at the wrong stop.
While I my boss, the train arrived.
We the problem last night.

Speak it aloud

Tell a short work story. Use a Past Continuous sentence for the background, like: "I was sending an email when the system crashed."

Present Perfect Continuous

Goal: Use the Present Perfect Continuous for an action from the past until now.

Past Perfect

Goal: Use the Past Perfect for the earlier of two past events.

Plans vs Decisions

Going to & Will

Goal: Use "going to" for plans and "will" for a sudden decision.

Future Continuous & Perfect

Mixed Tenses

Goal: Mix past, present, and future tenses in one work story.
